North Cyprus Minimum Wage and Working Conditions
This guide summarises the minimum wage and the core working conditions under the North Cyprus Employment Law (22/1992): working hours, overtime, annual leave, weekly rest and public holidays. The information is compiled from public official sources.
2026 minimum wage
The gross minimum wage figures effective from 1 January 2026 are:
| Period | Gross amount |
|---|---|
| Monthly | 60,618.00 TL |
| Weekly | 13,988.76 TL |
| Daily | 2,797.75 TL |
| Hourly | 349.71 TL |
The net monthly figure is around 52,738 TL. The new figures represent an increase of 18.39 percent over the previous period and were published in the Official Gazette. For the detailed announcement see our 2026 minimum wage post. For apprentices aged 15 to 17 the figure applies with a 30 percent reduction.
The minimum wage in North Cyprus is usually reviewed twice a year, so a new figure may be set during the year. We recommend confirming the current amount from Department of Labour announcements.
Working hours
Under the Employment Law, working time excluding meal breaks is at most 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week.
Overtime
Overtime may not exceed 4 hours a day or 90 days a year. On normal days overtime is paid at 50 percent above the hourly rate. Work on the weekly rest day and public holidays is paid at a higher rate.
Annual paid leave
Annual leave is earned after six months of service and rises with length of service:
| Length of service | Annual leave |
|---|---|
| From 6 months | at least 14 working days |
| With longer service | up to 18, 22 and 25 working days |
| Under 18 or over 50 | at least 20 working days |
Weekly rest
Weekly rest runs from Saturday at 13:00 through Sunday.
Public holidays
North Cyprus has around 17 public holidays a year. These include 1 January, 23 April, 1 May, 19 May, 20 July, 1 August, 30 August, 29 October and 15 November, together with Ramadan Feast (3 days) and Feast of Sacrifice (4 days). Work on a public holiday is paid at a premium.
